Reiki is a simple, natural and safe Japanese energy healing technique used for stress reduction, relaxation and to promote healing. Reiki works to heal from the inside out and has been scientifically shown to decrease pain levels, assist in healing and relax the mind and body. It is administered by "laying on hands" to channel energy from the healers hands to you. Treatments have been described as feeling like a glowing warmth that radiates through and around you. Reiki treats the person/animal as a whole: body, emotions, mind and spirit which creates a feeling of relaxation, peace, security and wellbeing. While Reiki does not take the place of medical care, Reiki does work in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. 

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which means "life force energy". Reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy." 

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to receive Reiki. Reiki is not dependent on belief and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki energy comes from Universal Life Energy, many have found that using Reiki allows them to be more in touch with the experience of their religion and their own personal spiritual journey and beliefs.
